Minister delegation from Uttar Pradesh visits Stockholm 14 December

Join us and meet the ministerial government delegation from Uttar Pradesh (UP) in India. This is a a great opportunity to learn more about the state and all the schemes and business opportunities that UP and its government offers. Visiting State Ministers:

• Mr. Nand Gopal Gupta, Minister for Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI and Investment Promotion
• Mr. Jitin Prasad, Minister for Public Works Department. The Public Works Department conducts the construction, improvement, strengthening and maintenance of roads and bridges. The responsibility of construction of certain buildings of the state government and their maintenance is also upon this department. The department undertakes the maintenance of National Highways passing through Uttar Pradesh which are not covered by the National Highways Authority for which funds are provided by the Government of India. The task of monitoring the works under different schemes and ensuring high quality of work has been assigned to 18 zonal Chief Engineers.

UTTAR PRADESH INDIA - SNAPSHOT

Uttar Pradesh in northern India is the largest and most populous state of India and represents a huge consumer market and human resource base.

With an area of nearly 250,000 sq km and a population of nearly 240 million, it ranks 3rd in India's economy and accounts for 8% (nearly USD 250 billion) of India's GDP.

The state received FDI worth nearly USD 1 billion during the period Oct 2019-June 2022. Merchandise exports from the state totalled nearly USD 20 billion during FY 22.

The state is among the top 5 manufacturing destinations in India and has the highest number of MSMEs in India. It ranks 2nd in terms of Ease of Doing Business in India.

The state has borders with Nepal and nine other states of India and has excellent road (largest in India) and rail connectivity (second largest in India) based on 48 national highways, six airports and rail links to all major cities. Several big ticket infrastructure projects (including waterways and multimodal terminals) are planned.

IT, Agriculture, Energy and Tourism are among the major sectors of economic activity. There are 14 operational Special Economic Zones in the state. More than 7,600 startups have come up in recent years from the state. Uttar Pradesh is among the largest food grain producing states in India.

A Defence manufacturing corridor is coming up in Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh is a favoured tourist destination and is home to Taj Mahal in Agra. In 2019 domestic tourist arrivals were more than 535 million and foreign tourist arrivals were nearly 5 million. Several heritage tourist circuits have come up in the state.
