Welcome to SIBC Connects; 'Next Generation Sustainable Industry'.

Ambition for the Global Goals has never been higher. Conference of the Parties (COP 26) in Glasgow has raised the bar of expectation, with increased commitments to accelerate our actions. Net Zero, Green Transition, Circular Economy are all key words in this discussion. The role of industry in this dialogue cannot be underestimated.

COP 26 looked at bringing a business case to sustainability, in concrete terms and we have already seen this lifted within the EU, with its discussion on taxonomy and business incentives. Many business stakeholders have already seen, and are operationalising the value of mainstreaming sustainability.

Join us to hear inside stories from experts in this arena and listen to Sara Larsson, General Manager of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Industry India; Linda Johansson, Senior Sustainability Advisor, Sweden-India Business Council and Linda Andrén, Vice President, Gunnebo.

We will be discussing the ways in which steps can be taken by industry to meet this global challenge. The session will be moderated by our very own Senior Vice President and Head of Sustainability, Arati Davis who shares: "I am really happy to have these industry experts with me for this 'SIBC Connects'. Sustainability and our global climate targets are only possible if they are accessible. Join me to discuss what this looks like at the level of operations AND results!".

One more sharing our commitment towards a greener tomorrow is Tom Johnstone, Sweden-India Business Council's Senior Executive Advisor, Member of India Sweden Business Leaders' Roundtable (ISBLRT) and Chairman Combient, Wärtsilä and Husqvarna . He adds: "Scope 3 emissions includes indirect emissions that occur in a company's value chain. For some companies, over 80% of their emissions lie in Scope 3. Committing to net zero is not enough to address climate change. You have to address your supply chain and how your products are used".

Linda is a member of the management team for Safe Storage, responsible for offer development within Safe Storage, Global Product Portfolio Management and Global Marketing.

She has more than +15 years of leadership experience with great track record both at management/board level and at all levels in a company. She has a high visibility and appreciation within organisation, from factory floor level and up. Linda has expertise in strategy development and deployment, including corporate strategy, business strategy, business model development and function specific strategies. Set business area strategies with proven profitable sales growth. She has had long result and profit responsibility for business areas in international setting, with a proven turnaround of business area. Linda also has expertise in IT strategy development and utilizing IT for operational excellence, with deep insights in sustainability driving sustainability work in a matrix organization.

Arati Davis works primarily with SITIS - Sweden India Transport Innovation Safety partnership where Sweden-India Business Council is the secretariat. Arati has been working on issues of sustainability and policy, for a green transition.

Arati is also SIBC's Head of Sustainability.

Arati started working with environment and natural resources in 2000, in the US, and she has had over a decade’s experience of working with sustainable development in the Sweden – India context; working first with Sida’s energy portfolio, and subsequently with the Embassy of Sweden, New Delhi’s Environment Office.

She has worked intensely with e-mobility within the Sweden India corridor and is the author of the report "Electromobility and India, Opportunities for Engagement"

Arati is also the India Country Manager of Recap and sits on the board of URBS (Urban Systems) and Pratham Sweden.

Arati holds a MSc. in Natural Resource Management from SOAS, University of London and a B.A. in International Political Economy from Swarthmore College, PA, USA and the London School of Economics.

Linda Johansson

Senior Sustainability Advisor at Sweden-India Business Council

Linda Johansson recently joined Systembolaget to work with sustainable purchasing both regarding beverages, and other products and services, after working 13+ years at the H&M Group. The most recent role was as Sustainability manager at the Global Logistics function, focusing on supply chain and logistics responsible for driving the sustainability strategy when it comes to transportation and warehousing.

Linda spent all together 11 years in India and Bangladesh, and started her professional career working for two years for a Swedish NGO in Dhaka, Bangladesh, focusing on sustainable agriculture practice and women’s empowerment. From there she joined the H&M Group in roles supporting Indian and Bangladeshi garment and home item manufacturers on their journey from compliance to sustainability. Linda was also part of starting the H&M Group’s sales organisation in India. This included all contacts with the DIPP, scouting office, logistics and store locations, hiring people and integrating a sustainable and ethical business practice from the start. From the work at the H&M Group her experience covers the full supply chain from manufacturing to sales, always with a sustainability focus and by using approaches grounded in business and sustainability.

Linda holds an M.A in Political Science and a B.A in Economic history from Lund University, Sweden, which also included studies at the University of Manchester, UK.
